Happy Easter!
I have had this photograph in my portfolio for some time but I had not shared it on my blog. I thought that since today is Easter that it would be an appropriate time to do so. This photograph was made as part of a classroom assignment back in 1997 while I was studying photography at the local college in Phoenix, AZ. The professor asked that we pick one object and photograph it while controlling the light source. So, I thought that an egg with special lighting would be ideal. I did not have professional lighting equipment so I just used a table lamp from my living room. I hung it upside down over the egg in order to obtain the desired lighting effect. The photograph below was the result of this assignment. I did not get a great score for creativity but I did get a perfect score for the technical elements (lighting, exposure and film/print processing).
This image was taken with my Canon EOS A2E using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode, however, I did not record the aperture and shutter settings. I used T-MAX 100 Professional film and processed the negatives and the print in my makeshift darkroom. I scanned the negative using my Epson Perfection V750 scanner. I processed this image in Lightroom.
