The Spiny Hedge Hog is a cactus found in many parts of Texas. I found this very nice specimen during my trip to Big Bend National Park earlier this year. The cactus flower is a colorful yellow and brown flower with green stigma. I took the image of this cactus while hiking the trail to Cattail Falls. The stigma reminds me of those sugar coasted fruit rollups. I’m certain they are anything but sweet.
This single image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using my EF100 f/2.8L Macro lens. I used my Canon MT-24 Twin Flash to light the subject. The camera was set on Manual Mode with the aperture set at f/16, shutter speed at 1/200 and the ISO set at 100. Processing was done in Lightroom.
